Okay. This is exciting. I have two tickets to go to a VERY cool United Way event and hear Malcolm Gladwell in conversation with Mark Sutcliffe at the National Arts Centre this Thursday, June 11, at 4:00.Gladwell, of course, is the author of The Tipping Point, Blink, Outliers, etc. etc. Mark Sutcliffe will undoubtedly do a great job of interviewing him -- he's a talented broadcaster and entrepreneur.

If you want to see Gladwell more than anything (and you can't afford $75 to do so, even though you would be supporting the United Way you cheap b****d) and think you deserve to, leave me a comment with your best argument why you should get the ticket rather than anybody else.
UPDATED: Remember -- leave me a way to get in touch with you, and leave your comment before midnight my time Wednesday.
My two favorite answers will get a ticket each. I can't pay any travel, etc., so you have to get to Ottawa and the NAC on your own.
Thanks to the great folks at United Way Ottawa for giving me the chance to do this.
Ciao,
Bob.

First of all, thanks to Joe Boughner for directing me to this blog! I have been a fan of Malcolm Gladwell since I saw him on The Hour with my boyfriend George Stroumboulopoulos. He is smart and funny but most importantly, interesting. Now, if you add a little Mark Sutcliffe to the equation, it's even more interesting. I am a big fan of Mark Sutcliffe as well. He is a great columnist with the Ottawa Citizen, not to mention the founder of iRun Magazine and the iRun Running Show. I am very excited at the thought of having an opportunity to attend this great event. Pick me, pick me!
I think that $75 is too much money to see someone speak. I am really interested in seeing Malcolm Gladwell though and think that my boyfriend would love to see him speak too.
I am giving to the United Way - big time - by putting on a free seminar for them on how to create dynamite presentations later this month. Will recycle Gladwell'isms' to attendees - so United Way will benefit from my benefit.
My reasons:
- I'm an underachiever.. the complete opposite of the people who Gladwell talks about in Outliers.. so I'm desperate for some inspiration
- I'd be stoked to go to an event at the NAC for the first time ever (yea I'm kinda new to Ottawa)
- I live on my chump change salary as an articling student (won't have a "real" job till August), so $75 is a bit much, especially considering my freakin' debt from school; hence why I'm a "cheap b****d" as you describe in your post
- My wife's a complete brainiac and would LOVE to see Gladwell speak
- and finally: If I win, I will dress up as Gladwell for Halloween with suit, Sideshow Bob wig and all. Stylin'!
I think Malcolm Gladwell is amazing and would love to go see him! Definitely can't afford it though - I just got laid off a few weeks ago. (My last day of work was 3 years to the day after I started the job. How sucky is that?) Maybe I can be inspired by something he says if I can go.
OKay, I've chosen. See above post. This was harder than I thought it would be.
