When I opened up my browser this morning, I found this at the top of my Facebook page.
"Hello Bob, do you speak English (UK)?
Help translate Facebook into English (UK) so that it can be used by people all over the world, in all languages.Click on the Translate Facebook button to add the Translations application, developed by Facebook so that you can be part of the community of translators.
- I wish to participate in Facebook's language translation project and I agree to the Additional Terms Applicable to Translate Facebook
Is a translation from American English to "UK" English really necessary?!
Ciao,
Bob.

I can understand why it would seem trivial, but believe me it makes a big difference. It's totally intelligible but to UK/AUS readers it just feels like it's laced with typos, as our writing would seem to you.
I'm sure in the long run it'll keep tensions cool through the subtleties!
